Injectables FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Injectables

How do I know which injectable I need?

Schedule a complimentary consultation! We'll assess your concerns, discuss your goals, and recommend the best treatment(s) for your specific needs. Many clients benefit from combining Botox with fillers for comprehensive results.

Do injectables hurt?

Most clients describe minimal discomfort. Botox feels like quick pinpricks. Fillers use numbing cream and contain lidocaine for comfort. Pain levels are typically 2-3 out of 10.

When will I see results?
  • Botox: 3-7 days for initial results, 10-14 days for full effect
  • Fillers: Immediate volume (final results after swelling resolves in 7-14 days)
How long do results last?
  • Botox: 3-4 months
  • Lip Fillers: 6-12 months
  • Dermal Fillers: 12-24 months (depends on area and product)
Is there any downtime?

Minimal to none! Botox has zero downtime. Fillers may cause 1-2 days of swelling/bruising but you can return to work immediately with makeup if desired.

Will I look frozen or fake?

Not when done correctly! Our conservative, artistic approach ensures you look like yourself—just refreshed and rested. We preserve natural facial expressions and never overdo it.

Can I combine treatments?

Absolutely! Many clients combine Botox with fillers in the same appointment for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. We can also combine injectables with laser treatments like CoolPeel or Photo Facial.

How much do injectables cost?
  • Botox: $13 per unit (typical treatment $260-$780)
  • Lip Fillers: $750-$825 per syringe
  • Dermal Fillers: $750-$825 per syringe Exact pricing provided at your consultation based on your customized treatment plan.
Are injectables safe while pregnant or breastfeeding?

As a precaution, we do not perform injectable treatments during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Wait until you're finished nursing to resume treatments.

Can men get injectables?

Absolutely! "Brotox" is increasingly popular. Men love how Botox smooths deep forehead lines and softens angry-looking frown lines. Jawline filler is also popular for a more defined, masculine appearance.

What if I'm not happy with my results?

Your satisfaction is our priority. Botox results fade naturally over 3-4 months. Fillers are adjustable at follow-up appointments and can be dissolved completely if needed. We'll work with you until you're thrilled with your results.

Do injectables prevent wrinkles?

Yes! Starting Botox treatments earlier (late 20s-early 30s) can prevent dynamic wrinkles from becoming permanent static wrinkles. It's called "preventative Botox" or "Baby Botox."

How often should I get treatments?
  • Botox: Every 3-4 months for maintenance
  • Lip Fillers: Every 8-12 months
  • Dermal Fillers: Every 12-18 months We'll create a personalized maintenance schedule for you.
Will insurance cover injectables?

Injectable treatments are usually considered cosmetic and not often covered by insurance. We offer Cherry financing with flexible payment plans to make treatments more accessible.

What brands do you use?

We use only premium, FDA-approved products:

  • Botox® and Jeuveau® (neurotoxins)
  • Juvederm® (full range of HA fillers)
  • Evolysse® (advanced HA technology)
Can I get injectables before a big event?

Botox: Schedule 2-3 weeks before your event (allows time for full results)
Fillers: Schedule 3-4 weeks before (allows swelling to completely resolve)
This timing ensures you look your absolute best for photos and celebrations!

Botox FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Botox

What Is Botox and How Does It Work?

Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription neurotoxin injectable made from botulinum toxin type A, used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles — such as frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet. Relaxing these muscles smooths the overlying skin for a softer, more youthful look.

• Dynamic Wrinkles – Lines formed by repeated facial expressions like squinting or frowning.
• How It Works – Botox blocks nerve signals to targeted muscles, reducing repetitive contractions that deepen lines over time.
• Duration – Results typically become noticeable a few days after treatment and can last approximately 3–4 months depending on individual factors.

How long does Botox last?

Most Botox results last 3 to 4 months. With consistent treatments, many clients find their results last longer over time as facial muscles become trained to relax.

All injectables are temporary. However, how long they last depends on the type of filler or neurotoxin used. During a consultation, we will discuss considerations, such as maintenance injections and skin care, to support long-lasting results.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member today.

Will Botox make me look frozen or unnatural?

Not when done correctly. Our approach to Botox in Scranton focuses on natural, balanced results — softening wrinkles while preserving facial expression.

What areas can Botox treat?

Botox is commonly used to treat:

  • Forehead lines

  • Frown lines (11’s)

  • Crow’s feet

  • Brow lift

  • Jaw slimming (masseter)

  • Lip flip

  • Preventative “Baby Botox”

Is there downtime?

There is little to no downtime. Most clients return to work or daily activities immediately after their appointment.

How soon will I see results?

You may begin to notice results within 3–5 days, with full results visible in 7–14 days after treatment.

Is Botox safe?

Yes — Botox is FDA-approved and considered very safe when administered by trained, licensed medical professionals. At Turcatti’s, all Botox injections are performed by experienced injectors who prioritize safety and precision.

Does Botox hurt?

Most patients describe Botox injections as a quick pinch or mild pressure. Treatments are fast, and discomfort is minimal. Any tenderness typically resolves within minutes.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member today.

How often should I get Botox?

Most clients schedule Botox treatments every 3–4 months to maintain consistent results.

So, Botox® Cosmetic is NOT a filler?

Right! Botox® is a neurotoxin/neuromodulator formulated with an ingredient designed to relax the muscles responsible for expression lines. A muscle that stays at rest does not contribute to crow’s feet around the eyes or frown lines between the eyebrows. Fillers do not treat expression lines. Rather, beneficial ingredients like naturally occurring HA are injected into wrinkled, hollow, sunken, and otherwise depressed areas of the face. These solutions have a plumping “effect” to fill in wrinkles and depressions and boost areas of volume loss, such as the hollows of the cheeks and the lips.

Will my results look natural?

Yes! Our aestheticians and injectors are highly trained and talented. They tailor just the right dose of the product and apply it precisely to certain points of your face to support your goals. You don’t have to worry about being unable to move your face or about your lips or cheeks looking “overfilled.” It’s you, only healthier, more rested looking.

Not when done correctly. Our approach focuses on natural enhancement, facial balance, and subtle volume — never overfilled or unnatural results.

How long does swelling last after lip fillers?

Most swelling peaks within 24–48 hours and improves significantly within a few days. Final results typically settle within 1–2 weeks.

Are lip fillers safe?

Yes. When administered by trained medical professionals using FDA-approved products, lip fillers are considered very safe.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member today.

Why do my lips look smaller than they used to?

Not unlike other parts of your body, the lips are also susceptible to the ravages of time and environmental threats from UV damage and pollutants. These and other factors contribute to a breakdown of the tissues that provide structure to your lips. Also, your lips may appear lined or not as well-defined due to the loss of elastin and collagen, which are present in greater quantities in young skin.

How do fillers help?

There are many fillers on the market today. Their formulations vary. They may contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid. When injected into lined, wrinkled, and depressed areas, these formulations “fill in” those depressions and add volume to hollow or sunken parts of the face.

How do I know my lips won’t look too big?

We appreciate that this is a real concern. We’ve all seen celebrity injections “gone wrong.” At Turcatti’s Aesthetics, our patients have peace of mind. They know that our talented injectors and aestheticians will apply just the right dose of filler to just the right areas to get results that you will love.

You don’t have to worry about an “overfilled” or unnatural appearance. Precision injections from an experienced team also go far to minimize any lingering discomfort and serious complications afterward.

CoolPeel FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About CoolPeel Laser

What to Expect During CoolPeel

Treatment Time:
Most CoolPeel sessions take 15–30 minutes.

Comfort Level:
Treatments are generally well tolerated. Sensation is brief and controlled.

Downtime:
Mild redness is common for 1–3 days. Most patients return to normal activities quickly.

Results:
Skin continues to improve over the weeks following treatment as collagen production increases.

Treatments can be completed in just 15 minutes. Due to its unique features that support comfort and safety, treatment is tolerated well with a local anesthetic or numbing cream. Great improvements may be visible in seven to 10 days, and they get better with time as the laser’s energy and heating trigger changes deep in the skin. Notably, firming collagen is renewed to fill in lines, wrinkles, scars, and other depressions.

While your skin may appear inflamed at the treatment sites, it typically goes away a few days after treatment. And there is nothing to recover from. So, it is a no-downtime procedure. Since settings allow for utmost customization, even delicate areas (such as the hollows underneath the eyes) may be treated safely and predictably with CoolPeel® and the Tetra laser.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member in Dunmore, PA, today.

What is CoolPeel®?

CoolPeel® uses proprietary high-energy yet ultra-short pulses to rejuvenate and resurface highly pigmented, dry, leathery, wrinkled, scarred, and otherwise damaged skin. Due to these unique pulses, the damaged skin is targeted precisely. The skin outside the treatment area remains intact and free of thermal (heat) damage. Minimizing such thermal effects also dramatically reduces downtime, especially compared to other CO2 laser therapies. You can get results without considerable demands on your schedule and for recovery and healing.

What makes this laser different from other CO2 lasers?

Cartessa Tetra Pro is considered to be one of the most sophisticated lasers of its kind available today. It provides powerful, precise, and highly customizable treatment. Settings can be tailored to each client’s unique characteristics and needs. So we can ensure that treatment is safe and comfortable and that you get the desired results. It is also the only laser capable of providing CoolPeel® treatments.

How many CoolPeel treatments will I need?

Many patients see improvement after one treatment, but a series may be recommended depending on your skin concerns and goals.

Who is a good candidate for CoolPeel?

CoolPeel is ideal for patients looking to improve skin texture, tone, and fine lines without extended downtime.

Is CoolPeel safe?

Yes. CoolPeel is considered safe when performed by trained medical professionals using appropriate laser settings.

Why should I choose Turcatti’s Aesthetics?

Technology is only as “good” as the provider who uses and applies it. Our team is led by Tatiana Sensi, an experienced aesthetician who brings more than 15 years of experience at top salons and medical spas in South Beach and Greater Miami to Northeastern PA. Your skin is in exceptional hands at our med spa. Call (570) 703-0802 with any questions for our team in Dunmore and to schedule your one-on-one consultation.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member in Dunmore, PA, today.

Photo Facial FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Photo Facials

Is Photo Facial painful?

Most clients describe the sensation as warm rubber bands snapping against the skin—mildly uncomfortable but very tolerable. Pain level is typically rated 2-3 out of 10. No numbing cream is required. The sensation varies by treatment area, with bonier areas (forehead, nose) slightly more sensitive.

How long does a Photo Facial treatment take?

Total appointment time is 30-40 minutes, with the actual laser treatment lasting 20-30 minutes. This makes it perfect for busy schedules—you can even do it during lunch!

Is there any downtime?

Minimal to none! You may have mild redness for 1-3 hours and slight warmth, but you can return to normal activities immediately. Makeup can typically be applied the next day.

When will I see results?

You'll notice an immediate glow and brightness. Visible improvement in pigmentation appears within 1-2 weeks as darkened spots flake off. Full results develop over 2-4 weeks as collagen production increases. Optimal results appear after completing your full treatment series.

How many treatments will I need?

Most clients need 3-6 treatments for optimal results. Maintenance concerns may only need 3 sessions, while more significant issues like deep pigmentation or extensive scarring benefit from 5-6 treatments. Maintenance treatments 1-2 times per year preserve results.

How often should I get treatments?

Treatments are spaced 2-4 weeks apart to allow your skin to heal and respond. This timing maximizes collagen production and allows pigment to be eliminated between sessions.

Is Photo Facial safe for dark skin?

Yes! The 1064nm wavelength is specifically safe for all skin types, including darker skin (Fitzpatrick types IV-VI). Unlike shorter wavelengths that can cause hyperpigmentation in dark skin, the 1064nm wavelength safely bypasses melanin while treating underlying concerns.

Can I get Photo Facial if I have active acne?

Photo Facial can actually help treat active acne! The laser reduces inflammation, kills acne bacteria, and decreases oil production. However, if you have severe cystic acne, we may recommend treating the active breakouts first before focusing on scarring and pigmentation.

Can I get Photo Facial while pregnant?

As a precaution, we do not perform laser treatments during pregnancy. While there's no evidence of harm, we prefer to wait until after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What's the difference between Photo Facial and CoolPeel?

CoolPeel is an ablative CO2 laser that removes the skin's surface for dramatic resurfacing (best for deep wrinkles and significant sun damage). Photo Facial is non-ablative, working beneath the surface with no downtime (best for pigmentation, redness, and moderate concerns). CoolPeel provides more dramatic results but requires more downtime.

Can I combine Photo Facial with other treatments?

Absolutely! Photo Facial combines beautifully with:

  • Chemical peels (alternate monthly)
  • Microneedling (space 4+ weeks apart)
  • Botox and fillers (can do same day)
  • Facials (maintenance between laser sessions)
How long do Photo Facial results last?

Results are long-lasting, especially with proper sun protection. Pigmentation and redness improvements can last 1-2 years. Anti-aging benefits continue developing for 6 months as collagen remodels. Maintenance treatments 1-2 times yearly preserve results indefinitely.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For 48 hours: Sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, exercise, swimming, harsh skincare products, retinoids, acids, scrubs. For 2 weeks: Direct sun exposure without SPF 30+.

Will pigmentation come back?

Treated pigmentation is permanently removed. However, sun exposure can create new pigmentation. Consistent SPF use (daily, year-round) prevents new sun damage and maintains your results.

Can Photo Facial remove all my sun damage?

Photo Facial dramatically improves sun damage, typically reducing visible spots by 60-80%. However, years of sun exposure create damage at various depths, so some deep damage may remain. A series of treatments provides maximum improvement.

Is there any risk of scarring?

The 1064nm Photo Facial is non-ablative (doesn't damage skin surface), so scarring risk is virtually zero when performed correctly by trained professionals.

Can men get Photo Facial?

Absolutely! Many men love Photo Facial for treating sun damage, redness, enlarged pores, and maintaining youthful skin. It's one of our most popular treatments for male clients.

What's the best age to start Photo Facial?

Photo Facial benefits all ages:

  • 20s-30s: Prevention, acne scarring, early sun damage
  • 40s-50s: Anti-aging, pigmentation, texture improvement
  • 60s+: Significant sun damage, deep wrinkles, skin rejuvenation
Can I get Photo Facial in summer?

Yes, but sun avoidance is crucial. We prefer fall/winter/spring when sun exposure is naturally limited. If treating in summer, strict sun protection (SPF 50+, hats, shade) is mandatory.

Will insurance cover Photo Facial?

Photo Facial is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. We offer package pricing for savings and Cherry financing for flexible payment options.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Hair Removal

What makes the Motus AZ+ different?

The Motus AZ+ has many features that allow it to treat clients’ unwanted hair safely, painlessly, efficiently, and precisely. Its features also allow for many different types of clients to benefit, including those with very dark skin that never burns. In the past, these clients were not good candidates for many earlier-generation systems because of the risk of hypopigmentation or other pigment problems following treatment. Today, individuals of all skin types and tones have peace of mind that their results and experience afterward will be as comfortable and satisfying as their treatment sessions.

Is it truly “painless”?

Other lasers for permanent laser hair reduction or hair removal often market themselves as “painless.” However, these lasers are not as well-tolerated as their claims suggest. They are usually associated with intense heating and a very uncomfortable sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin.

Laser hair removal with the Motus AZ+ is different; it has many built-in features to support a truly gentle process. These features include using a special handpiece that applies low-energy pulses slowly and repetitively – rather than in an intense burst. Plus, the tip of this handpiece is designed to cool once it makes contact with the skin.

Altogether, these characteristics minimize the risk of damage to the skin around the targeted hair follicles and present a much more comfortable process than other lasers and techniques for permanent hair removal/reduction.

What can I expect from treatment?

A high-speed laser whose energy can be entirely absorbed by the skin, the Motus AZ+ can remove almost all of the hair in the treatment area in fewer treatment sessions than most other laser-assisted options. In just five minutes (for small areas, such as on the face) and in four treatment sessions, we can achieve the permanent hair reduction or removal you seek. Also, side effects are typically limited to sensitivity or red discoloration at the treatment sites for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.

We welcome any additional or specific questions that you may have about advanced laser treatments for unwanted or excess hair on the face and body. Call Turcatti’s Aesthetics at (570) 703-0802 to speak with a team member in Dunmore, PA, today.

How many laser hair removal sessions are needed?

Most patients require 6–8 sessions for optimal long-term hair reduction.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth long-term, though occasional maintenance sessions may be needed.

Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?

Modern laser technology allows treatment for a wide range of skin types. A consultation helps determine suitability.

How should I prepare for laser hair removal?

Avoid sun exposure and waxing prior to treatment. Shaving is typically recommended before your appointment.

Chemical Peel FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Chemical Peels

How much do chemical peels cost at Turcatti's?

Chemical peel pricing ranges from $95 (Face Reality Hydrating Enzyme) to $350 (VI Peel Precision Plus). Our most popular VI Peel Original is $275. We offer package discounts for series of peels—save 10-15%.

Do chemical peels hurt?

Most patients feel mild tingling or warmth during peel application—not pain. VI Peels include numbing agents for comfort. Any sensation is brief and subsides quickly after application. Many patients describe it as "totally manageable" or "not bad at all."

How long does peeling last after a chemical peel?

VI Peels begin peeling on day 3 and complete by day 7. Face Reality peels have minimal to no visible peeling—mainly light flaking for 2-3 days. Plan for one week of visible peeling with VI Peel.

Can I wear makeup after a chemical peel?

Avoid makeup until peeling is complete (day 7 for VI Peel). For Face Reality peels, wait 24 hours. When you resume, mineral makeup is best as it won't clog healing pores.

What's the difference between VI Peel Original, Purify, Advanced, and Precision Plus?

VI Peel Original treats general aging and sun damage. VI Peel Purify targets active acne. VI Peel Advanced treats deeper wrinkles and stubborn pigmentation. VI Peel Precision Plus is for severe hyperpigmentation and melasma. We'll recommend the best option during your consultation.

How often should I get chemical peels?

Initial treatment series: Every 4-6 weeks for 3-4 treatments. Maintenance: Every 8-12 weeks to maintain results. Frequency depends on your peel type and skin goals. We'll create a customized plan during consultation.

Can chemical peels remove dark spots and hyperpigmentation?

Yes! Chemical peels, especially VI Peel Advanced and Precision Plus, are highly effective for fading age spots, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Patients typically see 60-80% improvement after a series of treatments.

Are chemical peels safe for acne-prone skin?

Absolutely. VI Peel Purify and Face Reality Acne Bootcamp Peel are specifically formulated for acne. They clear current breakouts and prevent future acne by working deep within pores. Many patients see 50-70% reduction in breakouts.

Will I look bad during the peeling process?

VI Peel: Days 4-6 have the most visible peeling—plan to avoid important events during this time if you're self-conscious. However, most patients maintain work and normal activities. Face Reality: Minimal visible peeling—you can maintain completely normal activities.

Can I get a chemical peel if I have dark skin?

Yes. VI Peels are safe for all skin tones including very dark skin (Fitzpatrick V-VI). We customize the formulation and strength based on your skin tone to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is one reason we love VI Peel—it's safe for everyone.

What should I avoid after a chemical peel?

Avoid sun exposure without SPF 50+, picking peeling skin, harsh products, exfoliants, retinoids, waxing, and strenuous exercise for 7-10 days. We provide detailed aftercare instructions and products.

Can chemical peels help with acne scars?

Yes. Chemical peels improve surface-level acne scars and texture with each treatment. For deeper, pitted scars, microneedling may be more effective. Many patients combine both treatments for maximum improvement.

How soon will I see results from a chemical peel?

New skin is revealed on day 7 (VI Peel) or day 3-4 (Face Reality). However, full results develop over 2-4 weeks as skin continues to improve, collagen production increases, and pigmentation fades further.

Can I get a chemical peel in the summer?

While fall and winter are ideal (less sun exposure), you can get peels year-round if you're diligent about sun protection—SPF 50+ reapplied every 2 hours outdoors. We'll discuss timing based on your lifestyle during consultation.

What's the difference between a chemical peel and a facial?

Facials gently exfoliate the surface and focus on relaxation, cleansing, and maintenance. Chemical peels use acids to penetrate deeper layers, causing controlled exfoliation for dramatic improvement of specific concerns like hyperpigmentation, acne, or wrinkles.

Can I combine chemical peels with other treatments?

Yes. Add dermaplaning before your peel for better penetration. You can get Botox 2+ weeks before or after your peel. Alternate chemical peels with microneedling treatments for comprehensive results. We'll create a customized combination plan.

Will my skin be red after a chemical peel?

VI Peel: Minimal redness. Your skin may look tan or darkened for the first 2 days, then peel. Not the dramatic redness of older peels.

Face Reality: Mild redness for 1-2 days, similar to mild sunburn.

Can I get a chemical peel if I'm using retinol?

You must stop using retinol and retinoids 2 weeks before your peel to avoid excessive irritation and complications. You can resume 1-2 weeks after peeling is complete. We'll provide a timeline.

Are chemical peels safe during pregnancy?

Most chemical peels are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to ingredient concerns and lack of safety studies. Consider gentle facials or enzyme treatments instead. Always consult your OB-GYN.

What's better for wrinkles—chemical peels or Botox?

They work differently and complement each other beautifully. Botox relaxes muscles that cause expression lines (forehead, crow's feet, frown lines). Chemical peels improve skin texture, tone, and surface wrinkles. Many patients do both for complete anti-aging results.

Microneedling FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling

What is microneedling and how does it work?

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering your body’s natural healing response. This stimulates collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, tone, and firmness. At Turcatti’s, we use the FDA-cleared SkinPen device for safe, effective treatments.

How much does microneedling cost in Scranton, PA?

Microneedling at Turcatti’s costs $350 per treatment or $960 for a package of 3 sessions. Add-ons like PRP ($200), Exosomes ($180), or Dermaplaning ($40) can enhance results.

Does microneedling hurt?

Most patients describe microneedling as tolerable to mildly uncomfortable. We apply numbing cream 20-30 minutes before treatment to minimize discomfort. During the procedure, you’ll feel a slight scratching sensation, but it’s not painful.

How many microneedling sessions do I need?

Most patients need 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. The exact number depends on your skin concerns and goals, which we’ll discuss during your consultation.

What is the downtime after microneedling?

Expect mild redness for 24-48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Most patients return to work the next day. Avoid makeup for 24 hours and sun exposure for a few days.

When will I see results from microneedling?

You’ll notice smoother, more radiant skin within a few days. Full results develop over 4-6 weeks as collagen production increases. Results continue to improve with each treatment.

Is microneedling safe for all skin types?

Yes. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones, including darker skin that may not be suitable for certain laser treatments.

What can microneedling treat?

Microneedling effectively treats acne scars, surgical scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven texture, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks.

Can microneedling remove acne scars?

Microneedling is one of the most effective treatments for acne scars. Patients typically see 50-80% improvement in scar visibility after 4-6 treatments. Works for all scar types.

Is microneedling better than chemical peels?

They target different concerns. Microneedling is superior for acne scars, deep wrinkles, and texture. Chemical peels are better for hyperpigmentation and active acne. Many patients do both.

What is the difference between microneedling and dermarolling?

Professional microneedling uses sterile, medical-grade devices like SkinPen with precise needle depth control. At-home dermarollers have shorter needles, less precision, and cannot achieve the same results as professional treatments.

Can I wear makeup after microneedling?

Wait 12-24 hours before applying makeup. When you resume, use only mineral makeup for the first few days to avoid clogging healing pores.

How long do microneedling results last?

Results can last 1-2 years because you’re building new collagen. Maintenance treatments every 6-12 months help preserve and enhance results.

Can microneedling be done in the summer?

Yes, but you must be extremely diligent about sun protection (SPF 50+ reapplied every 2 hours). Fall and winter are ideal due to less sun exposure.

What should I avoid after microneedling?

Avoid sun exposure, harsh products, retinol, acids, exercise, swimming, makeup (24 hours), and touching your face for 5-7 days.

Does microneedling help with large pores?

Yes. Microneedling tightens skin and improves texture, making pores appear 30-50% smaller. Results improve with each treatment.

Can microneedling treat stretch marks?

Yes, especially newer red/purple stretch marks. Microneedling stimulates collagen production to improve color and texture. Older marks also improve but require more treatments (6-10).

Is microneedling safe?

When performed by trained professionals using FDA-cleared devices like SkinPen, microneedling is very safe. Risks are minimal when proper sterile technique and aftercare are followed.

Can I combine microneedling with other treatments?

Yes! Microneedling pairs beautifully with PRP, exosomes, dermaplaning, and chemical peels. We’ll create a customized treatment plan during your consultation.

Will microneedling make me break out?

Some patients experience minor “purging” as skin detoxifies, but this is temporary (3-5 days). Proper aftercare minimizes this risk.

Can men get microneedling?

Absolutely! Men’s skin responds excellently to microneedling. Many male clients treat acne scars, large pores, and signs of aging.

What's the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?

Standard microneedling uses needles alone. RF (radiofrequency) microneedling adds heat energy for enhanced collagen stimulation. RF is more expensive and has longer downtime. Standard microneedling is highly effective for most concerns.

Facial FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Facials

How much does a facial cost at Turcatti's?

Our signature Turcatti’s Spa Facial is $90. Add dermaplaning for $45 or LED light therapy for $40 to enhance your results.

How long does a facial take?

Our spa facial takes 60-75 minutes, allowing time for thorough cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, mask, massage, and product application. We never rush your treatment.

How often should I get a facial?

We recommend professional facials every 4-6 weeks to maintain healthy, glowing skin. This frequency aligns with your skin’s natural 28-day cell turnover cycle and allows us to address concerns before they worsen.

Do facials hurt?

Facials should not be painful. Extractions may cause brief discomfort, but our expert technique minimizes this. Most clients find facials deeply relaxing—many even fall asleep during treatment!

Will I break out after a facial?

Some clients experience minor “purging” after their first facial as congestion is brought to the surface. This is temporary and usually resolves within 3-5 days. Subsequent facials typically don’t cause purging.

Should I get a facial before or after an event?

Schedule your facial 3-5 days before a special event for optimal glow without any potential post-facial redness. If extractions are needed, allow 5-7 days. For immediate events, consider our CO2 Lift treatment instead.

Can I wear makeup after a facial?

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 12-24 hours after your facial to let your skin breathe and fully absorb the beneficial products. Your skin will look so good, you won’t need makeup!

Can facials help with acne?

Yes! Regular professional facials are highly effective for managing acne. Deep cleansing, proper extractions, and antibacterial treatments can significantly improve breakouts and prevent future acne. For severe or cystic acne, we recommend combining facials with our Face Reality acne peel program.

Are facials good for aging skin?

Absolutely. Regular facials improve circulation, boost collagen production through massage, provide antioxidant protection, and keep skin hydrated—all essential for healthy aging. For more dramatic anti-aging results, consider combining facials with microneedling, chemical peels, or Botox treatments.

Can I get a facial if I have rosacea or sensitive skin?

Yes, but we customize your facial for your sensitive skin. We use gentle, fragrance-free products and avoid harsh exfoliation or hot steam. Always inform your aesthetician about skin sensitivities during your consultation.

What's the difference between a spa facial and medical-grade treatments?

Spa facials focus on cleansing, hydration, and relaxation using professional-grade products and techniques. Medical-grade treatments like chemical peels, microneedling, and laser treatments use advanced technology for more dramatic, lasting results. Many clients use facials for maintenance between more aggressive treatments.

Can men get facials?

Absolutely! Men’s skin faces unique challenges—larger pores, thicker skin, shaving irritation, and often more oil production. Many of our male clients from Scranton and NEPA love the deep cleansing and relaxation benefits of regular facials.

Will a facial help with blackheads?

Yes. Professional extraction is one of the most effective ways to clear blackheads. Trying to remove them at home often pushes bacteria deeper into pores or causes scarring. Our aestheticians are trained in proper extraction techniques that clear blackheads safely.

Can I get a facial while pregnant?

Yes, with modifications. We avoid certain ingredients like salicylic acid and retinoids during pregnancy. Pregnancy facials focus on calming inflammation, managing hormonal breakouts, and providing relaxation—all safe for mom and baby.

Do I need to prep my skin before a facial?

No special prep is required. Arrive with or without makeup—we’ll thoroughly cleanse either way. However, avoid harsh exfoliants and retinoids for 2-3 days before your appointment for best results.

How soon will I see results from a facial?

You’ll see immediate results—brighter, smoother, more hydrated skin right after your treatment. Results typically last 2-4 weeks, with cumulative improvements from regular facials.

Can facials reduce pore size?

Facials can’t permanently shrink pores, but regular deep cleansing keeps them clear and makes them appear smaller. Clean pores look less noticeable than clogged, stretched pores.

What should I avoid after a facial?

For 24-48 hours after your facial, avoid:

  • Heavy makeup
  • Harsh exfoliants or active ingredients (retinol, acids)
  • Intense workouts that cause excessive sweating
  • Sun exposure without SPF protection
  • Touching your face excessively
Can I get a facial if I have active breakouts?

Yes! Facials can actually help clear active breakouts through deep cleansing, extractions, and antibacterial treatments. Let your aesthetician know about any painful or cystic acne so they can adjust treatment accordingly.

Do facials really make a difference?

Yes, when done regularly. While one facial provides immediate glow, consistent treatments (every 4-6 weeks) deliver cumulative benefits: clearer pores, improved texture, more even tone, better product absorption, and healthier skin overall.

Dermaplaning FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Dermaplaning

How much does dermaplaning cost at Turcatti's?

Dermaplane Pro Treatment (standalone) is $100. Dermaplaning add-on to other treatments is $40-45. Package options available.

Does dermaplaning hurt?

No! Dermaplaning is completely painless. You'll feel a light scraping sensation and hear a scratching sound, but no pain whatsoever. Most clients find it relaxing.

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?

Absolutely not. This is a myth. Vellus hair (peach fuzz) grows back at exactly the same rate, color, and texture as before. The hair structure cannot change from dermaplaning.

How long does dermaplaning take?

Standalone treatment: 45-60 minutes. As an add-on to another treatment: 15-20 minutes.

Is there downtime after dermaplaning?

Zero downtime. You can return to all normal activities immediately, including wearing makeup. Your skin will look perfect right away.

Can I wear makeup after dermaplaning?

Yes, immediately! In fact, your makeup will apply more flawlessly than ever. However, your skin will look so good you may not want to cover it.

How often should I get dermaplaning?

Every 3-4 weeks for optimal results. This aligns with your skin's natural cell turnover and hair regrowth cycles.

Can dermaplaning cause breakouts?

Dermaplaning typically doesn't cause breakouts. Some people experience minor purging as impurities surface, but this clears within a few days. Proper aftercare minimizes this risk.

Will dermaplaning remove my eyebrows?

No. We carefully avoid eyebrows and any other areas where you want to keep hair. The treatment targets only vellus hair (peach fuzz) on your cheeks, forehead, chin, and upper lip.

Can I get dermaplaning if I have acne?

Not on active, inflamed breakouts. We work around any active acne. Once breakouts heal, dermaplaning can actually help prevent future acne by keeping pores clear.

What should I avoid after dermaplaning?

Avoid sun exposure without SPF 30+, harsh products, retinoids and acids (24 hours), touching your face excessively, and intense workouts (24 hours).

Can men get dermaplaning?

Yes, but we avoid areas with terminal beard hair (coarse facial hair). We can dermaplane the forehead, sides of face, and other areas without terminal hair growth.

Is dermaplaning better than exfoliating scrubs?

Yes. Dermaplaning provides deeper, more even exfoliation than any scrub can achieve. Plus, it removes vellus hair that scrubs can't touch.

Can I get dermaplaning while pregnant?

Yes! Dermaplaning is completely safe during pregnancy. It's a great option when you can't use certain chemical exfoliants.

What's the difference between dermaplaning and shaving?

Dermaplaning is a professional exfoliation technique using surgical-grade tools at specific angles to remove dead skin and hair. Shaving only cuts hair without exfoliating and uses different tools.

Will dermaplaning make my pores smaller?

Dermaplaning helps keep pores clear of debris, making them appear smaller. It also improves skin texture, which makes pores less noticeable.

Can I combine dermaplaning with other treatments?

Absolutely! Dermaplaning is an excellent add-on to facials, chemical peels, and microneedling. It enhances the effectiveness of these treatments.

What should I do to prepare for dermaplaning?

Minimal prep needed. Arrive with clean skin (or we'll cleanse), avoid retinoids 24 hours before, and avoid other exfoliation for 48 hours prior.

How soon will I see results from dermaplaning?

Immediately! You'll notice smoother, brighter, glowing skin the moment treatment is complete.

What's the difference between dermaplaning and shaving?

When performed by trained professionals using sterile, surgical-grade tools, dermaplaning is very safe. We follow strict safety protocols.

Hair FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Hair Services

How often should I get my hair cut?

Hair grows about a half inch every month. We generally recommend scheduling a haircut once every six to eight weeks to maintain your style and keep your hair in good condition. However, you can go longer between visits if your hair is healthy and you're growing it out. Other variables include your hair texture and type. It may also be necessary to come in sooner if breakage has moved up from the ends of the strands. Even the best styling products cannot work as intended if your hair is full of split ends. Our stylists can get you on a healthy schedule of regular trims best suited to your hair and goals.

Is hair coloring safe for my hair?

Enlisting the expertise of our professional colorists significantly reduces potential damage compared to DIY coloring. Our techniques help minimize potential damage to the hair and scalp, and today's advanced products and systems are designed to protect and condition the hair during the coloring process. We also offer bond-building treatments like Brazilian Bond Builder and K18 that can be added to any color service for extra protection. Plus, our colorists are equipped to perform even the most challenging balayage and coloring techniques with results that catch the eye for all the right reasons.

How long do hair extensions last?

With proper at-home care and regular professional maintenance, extension hair can last 9-12 months. Longevity depends on lifestyle, heat usage, product choices, and adherence to recommended salon maintenance. Tape-Ins require repositioning every 6-8 weeks. Wefts and I-Tips need resets every 6-8 weeks, with the 3rd reset requiring removal and reinstall. Bonded extensions (K-Tips) don't require move-ups as they last 4-6 months before being professionally removed and reinstalled with fresh bonds.

What is the difference between professional extensions and DIY ones?

You can truly see the difference. With our expertise and use of the highest quality products and materials, your longer hair will blend in seamlessly and look completely natural. Professional extensions also support lasting results—you can enjoy your beautiful look for six to eight weeks before maintenance is required. Our stylists take an exacting approach, removing build-up, trimming loose ends, and re-adhering bonds as needed. This prevents tangles, damage, and an overall unkempt appearance that's common with DIY extensions.

Why should I get a Brazilian Blowout?

A Brazilian Blowout is perfect if you love your natural hair but want it smoother, shinier, and easier to manage. It dramatically reduces frizz, adds intense shine, and cuts down your styling time without flattening your volume or completely eliminating your curl. Your hair stays flexible and soft—just more polished and effortless. It gradually fades out of the hair (no harsh grow-out line) and is perfect for warm and humid months, though it can be beneficial all year round. Results last up to 12 weeks with proper at-home care.

How much does balayage cost in Scranton?

At Turcatti's, balayage services start at $95 for Face Frame Balayage, $175 for Partial Balayage, and $225 for Full Balayage. Final pricing depends on hair length, density, current color, and desired result. Many clients also add a gloss or toner ($45 when combined with color) for enhanced dimension and shine. We recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation so we can assess your hair and provide an accurate quote for your specific goals.

Why would I need a strand test?

A strand test lets our stylists see exactly how your hair will respond before performing the full service. It helps us confirm timing, strength, and the final result so there are no surprises and your hair stays healthy. Strand tests are particularly important for corrective color, significant lightening, or if you've been using box dye or have unknown color history. This extra step protects your hair and ensures beautiful, predictable results.

What is corrective color and do I need it?

Corrective color is a specialized service designed to fix previous color mistakes, remove unwanted tones (like orange or green), or transition from boxed dye to professional color. You may need corrective color if your hair has uneven color, unwanted warmth or brassiness, color bands from inconsistent applications, or if you're trying to go significantly lighter after using dark box dye. These services require a consultation because the approach varies greatly depending on your hair's current state. Multiple sessions may be needed for the healthiest, most beautiful result.

How do I prepare for my hair color appointment?

For best results, arrive with hair that hasn't been washed for 1-2 days—natural oils help protect your scalp during coloring. Avoid using heavy styling products. Bring photos of your desired color and be ready to discuss your color history, including any box dye or at-home treatments. If you have a sensitive scalp, consider taking an antihistamine beforehand. Most importantly, be open and honest about your hair history so we can achieve your desired result safely.

What's the difference between highlights and balayage?

Traditional highlights use foils to create consistent, uniform lightness from root to tip. Balayage is a French hand-painting technique that creates softer, more natural-looking dimension with a gradual transition from darker roots to lighter ends. Highlights typically require more frequent maintenance (every 6-8 weeks) because regrowth is more visible. Balayage grows out more gracefully and can go 10-14 weeks between appointments. Our stylists can help you choose the right technique based on your desired look and maintenance preferences.

How should I take care of my permed or relaxed hair?

We recommend minimizing too many touch-ups, giving your hair time to "breathe" between appointments. We may recommend perming or relaxing a few weeks before coloring your hair to reduce potential damage. Conditioning is of utmost importance—use deep conditioning treatments regularly. Protect your hair and scalp when exposed to heat or UV damage from the sun. Avoid excessive heat styling and use a heat protectant when you do. Our stylists can recommend specific products best suited for your chemically treated hair.

What is K18 and how does it work?

K18 is a revolutionary molecular repair treatment that works at the peptide level to restore hair's strength and elasticity. Unlike traditional conditioners that just coat the hair, K18's patented peptide actually reconnects broken keratin chains inside the hair structure, repairing damage from color, lightener, heat, and chemical services. It can be used as a standalone treatment ($50+) or added to any color service for protection. Results are immediate and cumulative—the more you use it, the stronger your hair becomes.

How long does a Brazilian Blowout take?

A Brazilian Blowout typically takes 2-3 hours depending on your hair length and thickness. The treatment involves washing your hair, applying the smoothing solution, blow drying, and flat ironing to seal in the treatment. Results are immediate—you'll leave the salon with smooth, frizz-free hair. Unlike some other keratin treatments, you can wash your hair the same day with no waiting period required.

What type of extensions is best for fine hair?

For fine hair, we typically recommend Tape-In extensions or Micro K-Tips. Tape-Ins are lightweight, lay flat against the scalp, and distribute weight evenly to avoid stress on fine hair. Micro K-Tips use smaller bonds for a more discreet, lightweight result that's virtually undetectable. During your complimentary consultation, we'll assess your hair density, condition, and goals to recommend the best method for you.

Can I swim or exercise with hair extensions?

Yes, but with precautions. Before swimming, wet your hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner to create a barrier against chlorine or salt water. Wear your hair in a loose braid or bun to prevent tangling. After swimming, rinse immediately with fresh water. For exercise, secure your hair to prevent excessive pulling on the bonds. Avoid heavy conditioners or oils near the attachment points as these can cause slippage with certain extension types.

How do I know if my hair is too damaged for color?

Signs of severely damaged hair include excessive breakage, mushy or gummy texture when wet, extreme dryness and brittleness, lack of elasticity (hair that won't bounce back when stretched), and visible split ends traveling up the hair shaft. If you're concerned, we recommend booking a consultation. Our stylists will perform a strand test and assess your hair's condition. In some cases, we may recommend a repair treatment plan before proceeding with color to ensure the healthiest possible results.

Do you offer wedding and bridal hair services?

Yes! We offer formal updos ($95+) and special event styling ($65+) perfect for brides, bridesmaids, and wedding guests. We recommend scheduling a trial appointment 2-4 weeks before your wedding to perfect your look. Bring photos of your dress, veil, and inspiration styles. We can accommodate bridal parties at the salon, and off-site services may be available for an additional fee. Contact us early to secure your wedding date!

What products should I use at home after color?

We recommend sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and conditioner to preserve your color and prevent premature fading. The Oribe line we use in-salon is excellent for at-home care. Wash hair in lukewarm (not hot) water, use a heat protectant before styling, and consider a weekly deep conditioning treatment. For blondes, a purple shampoo 1-2 times per week helps prevent brassiness. Our stylists will recommend specific products based on your hair type and color.

How much does a full head of extensions cost?

Extension pricing varies based on the method and amount of hair needed. Most clients require 4-6 packs for a full, natural look. For Tape-Ins, that's $500-$750 for installation. Weft extensions typically require 2-3 rows ($750-$1,125). K-Tips or I-Tips range from $600-$1,050. Extension hair is priced separately unless specified. During your complimentary consultation, we'll determine exactly how much hair you need and provide a complete quote.

Why is Oribe used at Turcatti's?

Oribe is a luxury hair care brand known for its high-performance formulas and salon-quality results. We chose Oribe because it combines the latest advances in hair care technology with ingredients that protect color, enhance shine, and improve overall hair health. From our signature scalp treatments to deep conditioning masques, Oribe products deliver visible results while providing a luxurious sensory experience.
